Will these courses be good for my 4th grade age child?
Yes. This class is perfect for a 4th grader and up. Coding and game design classes are first and foremost, meant to be fun. Because they start with such a young student audience, it's important that we include elements that keep their attention.   If students are not having fun they will eventually get frustrated with the technical nuances that are associated with programming.

My child is NOT in 4th grade.  Are these courses still applicable?
It depends.  Our ideal student is in 4th grade.  He/She has completed the necessary Computational Thinking prerequisite classes, armed with a strong computing vocabulary and can start at Beginner:  Level 1;  However, we know that not everyone has the opportunity to start at the exact same place. We do have a series of tests students can take to help us determine where they should start.  Maybe they can jump into our Intermediate courses?  Maybe they have had enough experience that allows them to take on our advanced level projects.  At the bottom of this page you will find a contact form.  Start by sharing your situation so we can begin the conversation and get him/her started.

"Mrs Sam"

Mrs. Sam was Computational Thinkers first teacher, back in 2013. She is not only the teacher of this class but also the founder of Computational Thinkers. Though more teachers have joined the ranks, she continues to teach of few classes and this is one of her favorites.

CT: Why do you enjoy teaching this course?

Mrs Sam:  "I enjoy teaching this course because of the age of the students.  The 4th/5th grade students are so eager to learn.  The standard 4th grade classroom is when students start learning about the cartesian coordinate plane system (X, Y and Z's).  For creating graphic elements and writing code for gaming, this is an important concept.  On top of that, they are fresh leaners of computer science and ready to take in as much knowledge on the field of programing as possible.  Add on the gaming elements and they get giddy and overjoyed.  When I see them having fun and not just doing the work, I know I've created a little computer science monster and that makes me happy."
